Take a look back through time at these famously steamy ads. Two new ads for a home improvement chain Gifi have proved contentious for their blatant sexual connotations. Gifi's tagline is "genius ideas". Presumably, they're not talking about their new line of adverts for the new bingo-like app they've launched. In the first ad, a woman in her underwear appears to be receiving oral sex from a man. In case it wasn't clear enough, background sounds apparently coming from the man seem to emphasize that he really is performing oral sex, as the woman says phrases like "Yes, that's good".
However, when the camera angle changes we see that the man is simply eating a watermelon in front of her while she plays Bingo on phone not far from her crotch.
The second ad plays on the same gag except they pair have changed places and the woman is grunting along to some push-ups. The adverts have caused a few palpitations in France, with many taking to social media to slam what they consider to be a tasteless ad. Some might say this response is surprising, not least given France's long history of raunchy ads.

Women's rights groups were angered by this commercial by a French sports chain, blasting it as offensive towards women. See if you agree. The UK's Advertising Standards Agency banned this video in Britain for objectifying women but gave the green light to a different version with half-naked men.
Here's the other version of the Renault Clio advert, to save you looking around the web for it. In this commercial, a boy causes all sorts of mayhem while his mum is busy trying out Hansaplast condoms. Officials and tourist chiefs were not amused when this promotional video for the Charente Maritime region in western France came out. This ad for Louis Vuitton clothing caused outrage among feminist groups for its "glamorization" of prostitution. Not quite a French commercial, but at least the setting is quintessentially Gallic.
To the delight of passers-by at least some of the male ones , a model saunters through Paris wearing only lingerie.
This commercial for mobile phone company Nomad, which allegedly was banned, demonstrates the importance of always making well-informed decisions.
