Harry Farrant and his father Jason Michael, 39, left a kitchen knife embedded in the chest of year-old amateur boxer Daniel Leahy. At the time of the killing police were investigating the stabbing of landlady's son Lee Lumb, 29, who was knifed four times in the neck in a late night scuffle at the nearby Captain Cook pub.
The teenager, who has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, had grown up in the care of social services but was reunited with his father at the age of seven. Farrant was told he must serve at least 14 years and Michael was ordered to serve at least 19 years. As he moved he was trying to get away. There was a lot of noise going on, screaming. I see Dan go down. The court heard Farrant has a previous conviction for going equipped for theft from May last year for which he received a referral order. Following a further conviction for theft from a car last December he was given an action plan order.
