A transgender is a person who wishes to be considered as a member of the opposite sex. Whereas, a transvestite is a person who dresses and acts in the manner of opposite sex. It is a state in which a person has a strong desire to get transformed into the opposite sex. It implies to all the categories of sexual orientation; heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, or asexual. Transvestite is a person who seeks sexual pleasure from wearing the clothes of the opposite sex. They have less or no desire to permanently change their sex. They simply enjoy cross-dressing.
Transvestites should not be confused with people who cross-dress specifically for public performances. However, they may have sexual relationships with the opposite sex, same-sex people or both. Conceiving depends upon the person; if the person has sexual relations with opposite sex then it is easier to have their own children. Otherwise, alternatives like adoption of children, opting for some medical treatment, etc.
Transvestitism is not related to law by any means. It is only the society that does not accept people who cross-dress.
